Questions Sunderland Buyers Ask

Will a dehydrated starter survive the trip to Sunderland?

Yes — that is exactly why we ship flakes. Dehydration puts the culture gently to sleep, so it travels happily in the post and wakes up the moment you feed it flour and water.

How long until I can bake my first loaf?

Most bakers see lively bubbles within a couple of days of activation, and a first loaf follows soon after. Your kitchen's warmth and your feeding rhythm set the pace.

Do I need special flour or equipment?

No. Plain strong white or wholemeal flour, water, a clean jar and a spoon are all it takes. Nothing fancy, nothing extra to buy.

Ready when you are, Sunderland — grab your Squirrelly Girl Starter today and get that first loaf in the oven. Happy baking! 🐿️
