500-Year-Old Starter? Why Your Sourdough Doesn’t Need a Fairy Tale
Share
Have you ever noticed that some sourdough starters online seem to have more historical achievements than most people? 🤔
"This starter crossed the Klondike with a gold prospector."
"This one survived the Black Plague."
"This starter was personally handed down from a medieval village baker."
At this rate, we're expecting someone to claim their starter baked bread for the dinosaurs. 🦖🍞
Here's our story...
Our sourdough starter isn't 500 years old. It didn't travel across Europe in the Middle Ages, and it wasn't carried through the Alaskan Gold Rush.
It's something we're just as proud of.
Fifteen years ago, we received a healthy 10-year-old starter from a fellow baker. Since then, we've lovingly fed it every single day. When we were at work, our three awesome sons took over the daily feedings and made sure it was always healthy, active, and thriving.
That's over 15 years of real care, real baking, and real family dedication.
We believe you don't need a fairy tale to make incredible sourdough. A strong, well-maintained starter with a genuine history will outperform a neglected "500-year-old" starter every time.
Truth matters. Quality matters. Family matters.
And we think honesty is something worth rising for. ❤️🍞
